Gerry McCabe 2009

Joined Dunfermline as Assistant Manager in January 2008.

51 year old Gerry McCabe had a good career as a player, spanning almost 20 years from 1977 to 1997.  Gerry played for Clyde, Hamilton, Dumbarton and Arbroath, but his most impressive role was in a seven year spell with a rising Clydebank side who, with players like Gerry and Davie Cooper had a meteoric rise through the divisions in Scottish football to the Premier League.

Gerry's first coaching experience had been as a youth coach at Celtic whilst still playing for Arbroath in 1995.Shortly afterwards he joined Bobby Williamson at Kilmarnock as his assistant manager. The partnership would last for many years with the two moving to Hibs and then Plymouth Argyle.  In 2006 he took up the position of manager at Scottish Third Division side Dumbarton, narrowly missing a promotion play-off place by finishing fifth in the league.

Manager Jim McIntyre says this of his new assistant:-

"I've known my number two Gerry McCabe for a long time from my days at Killie - he's a great football man and was himself a top player. He's always upbeat and fun to be around and he'll make sure that the spirits stay high. He's an excellent coach and very good on the training field, and won't hesitate to give a rocket if it's needed - I should know, I was on the other side of it at Killie!"
