Robert Kielty Profile

Sports scientist Robert Kielty jopined Dunfermline in thebuild-up for this season's big kick-off.
Kielty (40), was a midfielder with Queens Park but realised he was never going to make a decent living from the game and swapped his boots for books at university. For the past eight years he's lectured in sports science and physical education at the University of Strathclyde at Jordanhill and is on the SFA's sports science steering group.
McIntyre's presence was crucial to bringing Kielty's expertise to the club. He spent three years working with Colin Hendry first at Blackpool then Clyde and met McIntyre on an SFA coaching course at Largs.
Far from blinding with science, Kielty keeps it refreshingly simple. One of the tools of Kielty's trade is the Polar system which is a system of monitoring players' heart rates gifted to the club by the Pars Supporters Trust - a "phenomenal purchase", according to Kielty.
