The Gall-ery view

Paul Gallacher watched the Pars game against Inverness Caley Thistle from the press box in the Main Stand where he was summarising for the Dunfermline Media Centre and afterwards gave his analysis of what he saw:-
"It was frustrating again. The chances we created, especially in the second half should have earned us the three points. Yet again a game against Inverness has ended in a scoring draw. It is really two points lost today.
"It was a vital game for us, we wanted not only the three points but first and foremost a win at home. We put enough into the game to probably deserve the three points but it wasn't to be."
Paul agreed that to go in one ahead after a lacklustre first half was fortunate:-
"It had been fairly evenly matched, there was not a lot in the game. I don't think either goalkeeper had much to do but we scored at a vital time. I didn't realise that it was that close to half time when Joe scored. It was fantastic when it went in, it was a great time to score.
"We started the second half positively creating so many chances and you are thinking it was just a matter of time before they'd put the ball in the back of the net to finish the game. But we didn't take our chances and they came up the park and with virtually their first attack of the second half scored a goal. It is frustrating from that point of view and feels like we have lost.
"We had a few chances near the end and Andy Kirk earlier but if it wasn't for a better ball maybe we might have scored. We are creating chances and getting into good areas so it is all positive from that point of view."
The negative was the Inverness goal and Paul added his opinion on what he had seen in it:-
"Of course goals are preventable but the ball was forced out wide and we didn't defend it well. It was a good cross into the box. I thought that they might have been offside from my vantage point - maybe a bit biased there - but we should have done a little better when the ball went out wide. You can't take it away from them,. it was a good goal from their point of view.
"We were so much better in the second half we should have scored a second goal. The boys are gutted, it feels like a defeat after putting so much effort into the game and creating so many chances. It is not as though their goalkeeper had to make great saves, we needed that little bit of luck and that little bit that was missing for the final touch."
Paul goes back to see his surgeon this coming week and is hoping to get the go ahead to ditch the sling that he has been wearing day and night since the operation last month. After that it will be a long rehabilitation process and he has ruled out a return this season since it would be difficult to be fit and up to match fitness by May.
