The 31 year old returned to East End Park for the 2011-12 season. The Manager said on signing him that he was really pleased to bring in someone with great experience and a proven Premier League player. John was captain of St Mirren for the last three seasons and he is a real leader on the park.
John began his career at Celtic signing for them back in 1996 from Celtic BC before joining Dunfermline where he made 25 appearances between 1999 and 2002. The Dunfermline born player then moved on to Clyde where was he was an ever present in the first team and for 2004-05 made the captain. He joined St Mirren in July 2005, winning promotion in the first season there.
Went out on loan until the end of season 2011/12 to Queen of the South at the end of January 2012.
