As a consequence of Jim Jefferies making sweeping changes in his team against Stirling Albion the previous Saturday, U20s coach John Potter had an experienced side to field at Excelsior Stadium on Tuesday afternoon and it was Partick Thistle`s misfortune that they were the opposition.

Six players who played against Stenhousemuir two Saturday`s back lined up in this Development League match - Michael Moffat, Andy Geggan, Lewis Spence, Ross Forbes, Stuart Urquhart and Ryan Goodfellow. Clearly those players would have a point to prove and they certainly took that opportunity.

An Andy Geggan hat trick, a brace from Sorel Chemin and a final strike from Michael Moffat saw off Thistle who were allowed a consolation goal once completely out of the picture.

The first danger was created in fifth minute when a long through ball was cut out by Ryan Goodfellow and then a minute later Jack Hendry was yellow carded for cutting down Geggan on the edge of the box. Forbes free kick was cleared by Hendry.

On the quartet hour, Neil McLaughlin`s shot was saved by Goodfellow after Forbes had been dispossessed on half way. Sorel Chemin`s cross after being picked out by captain Finn Graham was cut out. Dunfermline were beginning to dominate and Spence got in a shot from inside the box that keeper Marc Waters saved.

A corner from the left was sent over by Scott Mercer but Geggan just failed to get his head to it. In 24 minutes GEGGAN hit the net after latching on to a Spence pass, brushing off defenders to shoot low through the keeper to find the left side of the goal. 0-1

Five minutes later CHEMIN made it two when a pass out of defence to the Frenchman on the right sent him away to finish in the same spot as Geggan had previously found. 0-2

In 35 minutes McMullen embarked on a run down the left to be first blocked and then sent the rebound on target but Goodfellow saved. The Pars keeper then thwarted a McLaughlin effort before. Forbes long pass to Spence was switched on to Moffat who earned a corner.

It was a subsequent corner however in the first minute of added time that brought about Dunfermline`s third goal. Mercer`s corner from the left found GEGGAN at the far post to head in another. Waters got a touch on to the crossbar but the power of the header ensured the ball ended up in the net.

The second half was only three minutes old when Andy GEGGAN completed his hat trick. It was a header from a Forbes corner delivered from the right. In 54 minutes Urquhart had a shot from a Thistle clearance that was blocked. 0-4

Thistle`s Declan McDaid kept Goodfellow involved with a run that ended with a shot that the Pars keeper held. Next Jordan Orru made ground up the left and when he picked out CHEMIN he squeezed it in at the left post. 0-5

Forbes` attempt to make it six cleared the bar but MOFFAT grabbed a bit of the action making it 6-0 in 61st minute. Three substitutions quickly followed but it was Thistle who were to benefit when McDAID was on the end of a cross from the left that he sunk past Goodfellow.

The goals were over but there were further chances and Chemin tried for his hat trick but the goalie wasn`t to be nutmegged and only a corner ensued. Gavin McMillan had a shot blocked and James Thomas was offside when he tried to follow up.
