Dunfermline Athletic FC Ladies
Dunfermline Athletic Girls Football Club (DAGFC) was founded in 1996 by Graham Watt with the purpose of promoting girls football in the West Fife area. The club was supported by volunteers, who were mainly parents of daughters in the teams.
Billy Finlay joined Graham as the first coach and was followed by, Stewart Ritchie, then Chris Woodall, John Drury and Neil Farrell. The coaching staff were supported by an active committee including Ann Gordon, Irene Morgan, Elaine Montignani, Sandra Reid and then Anne Farrell. As the daughters of these volunteers moved on, a new set of volunteer parents have taken up the challenge.
The existing committee comprises Alan Thomson (Chairperson), Alan Aitken (Treasurer), Elaine Montignani (Secretary) and Carolyn Martin (Child Protection). At present four age groups are represented namely, U11/U13/U15/U17's. The principal coach for each age group, contact details and training times / locations are shown in the table below:

In addition, there are many other volunteers who play a role in ensuring the teams turn out well prepared to represent Dunfermline, Fife and Scotland.
The U13, U15 and U17 teams currently play in the East Central League, which includes some other famous names such as Hibs, Musselburgh Windsor, Hutchie Vale and Falkirk. The The U11 and U13's participate in seven a side matches while the U15's and U17's play eleven a side games.
The U11's matches are in the Fife Soccer Sevens played at Pitreavie playing fields on a Saturday morning. The U13 and U15's leagues matches are also on a Saturday morning with the U17's matches scheduled for Sunday afternoons, again all home matches are at Pitreavie. In addition to the league games, a League Cup and a Scottish Cup Competition result in national exposure.
There has been an ever increasing improvement in the overall playing standard over the years, although success has never been in short supply. A full summary of the club's successes is included in the Roll of Honour table below. More recently, in season 2004/05 the U17's won the Angus Region League Cup.
The present U15 side reached the final of the Scottish Cup at U13 level. Both the U13's and U15's were runners up in their league last year. These competitive games are supplemented with friendly matches against teams from other regions and occasionally touring teams. Recently the U15's played in a three team round robin friendly competition at Murray Park, Rangers training ground against Drumchapel and Magic City, a touring side from Billings, Montana, USA.

The girls also take part in the SFA Development Squad sessions as part of the selection process to be picked for one of the Scottish national teams at U15 and U17 level. To date, two girls from the club, Katie Bennett and Jane Doig have made the Scotland squad.

At present, there are approximately 60 girls signed up with the club from across Fife ranging from Kirkcaldy to Kincardine, from Glenrothes to Burntisland and beyond. Anyone interested in playing football should contact the relevant coach for their age group as we are always trying to improve our squads and promote football to a larger number of girls.
A modest monthly fee ranging from £12.50 (U11's) to £20.00 (U17's) is paid by each girl to fund the rental of pitches, training facilities and equipment. However, despite the unpaid coaches and volunteer's support, it is always necessary to raise additional funds through fund raising activities and sponsorship. A list of our current sponsors along with website connections to important sites is listed in the table below.
