Jim Jefferies
is keen to get off to a winning start on Saturday against St Mirren but is also keen to demonstrate to the Pars fans that he is not the person he sometimes comes over as portrayed in the media.  With great self analysis and honesty he told the website:-

"I'm perceived to be a big dour, moaner and groaner because every picture they put up of me shows me always shouting at somebody.  What was funny when I joined Kilmarnock way back in 2002 some of the girls in the office were dreading it, though they never told me at the time. They had this impression of me and nothing could be further from the truth. They still phone me to this day and I have had a lot of calls saying it is great to see me back.

"Jim Traynor started it all, he used to say that he could never understand how a polite, well mannered, quiet spoken gentleman could become a raving lunatic between 3.00 and 5.00 pm on a Saturday. That is probably the best way to describe me.  It is the passion of wanting to win I suppose."

The new boss professes to be hard task master but he tempered that as "hard but fair."He continued:-

"I never fall out with people but I'm not frightened to tell people what my standards are and will work towards that. If we have a set to about not doing it right- it's forgotten about as long as they do something about it and if they try and put it right then we will get on fine.

"There is never any fall out, it's never personal, it's professional. You can't do that with everyone as some need a shoulder to cry on or an arm round them to get the best out of them but others need a rocket up them. Over the years I've been an expert at doing both and hopefully it will work here.

Jim Jefferies & Gerry McCabe

His first opponents St Mirren are very familiar to him since he was recently invited by Hibs Assistant Manager, Billy Brown to go to a game which happened to be against St Mirren.

"Then I was invited to go to Hearts and watch the cup tie, again the opponents were St Mirren and then I watched them again with Gerry McCabe on Wednesday night, so we have seen them enough in the last few weeks.  Hopefully we can put it to good use on Saturday."
