Andy Barrowman Post Aberdeen

Saturday, 1st Oct 2011

"Everybody wants to play good football but I will tell you now that there is no one in the dressing room who likes losing.

Andy Barrowman v Aberdeen

Pars striker Andy Barrowman gave his thoughts on the Friday night experiment at Aberdeen;-

"It was an absolute shambles from start to finish. We conceded an early goal, was it nine minutes? We just capitulated after that - it was similar to last Saturday in many ways. We have our goalkeeper Paul Gallacher to thank for the score not being more. It was not good enough, embarrassing.

"Aberdeen played well, there is no getting away from that but it is more to do with us allowing them to play well. I don't think we put them under any pressure. We didn't close them down or force them into making mistakes at all the whole night. Give them credit, they played well but I don't think we played anything like we can do and that contributed to their performance.

"It was just a bad day at the office but that's a couple now so we have to stop it. There's no other way about it, it can't continue, if it does then we are in trouble.

Andy Barrowman v Aberdeen

"We don't turn into a bad side overnight, we have good players and it is the same team that went to Dundee United and St Johnstone. We have just got to re-group as a team - get back together and get back to winning ways.

"Paul Gallacher was outstanding; I don't know how many saves - you could possibly count five or six great saves that he has pulled off. We are thankful to him for that but it is not a good sign when your goalkeeper is Man of the Match. We can't allow that to continue and must get back on the training ground and make sure that is not the case in the next game.

"We need to get back doing the ugly side of the game like we were doing at the start of the season. That was what was getting us results. Make no bones about it; we were really hard to beat and we were not conceding many goals. We were playing as a unit and recently we have not being doing that.

"We know that we have got good players and we know that the quality will shine through but it is the ugly side of the game that we need to get back into our game.

Andy Barrowman v Aberdeen

"Everybody wants to play good football but I will tell you now that there is no one in the dressing room who likes losing. Regardless of how you are playing, results are the most important thing. It is a results business and we must make sure that we are picking up points. In recent weeks we have not done that.

"The Manager wouldn't allow us to be anything other than being up for a fight. No bones about it we will re-group and turn out fighting."

Andy was given the important role of providing the threat upfront on his own. Andy Kirk was introduced along side him just 39 minutes into the match.

"We have played one up front in other games done well. I don't think it is anything to do with systems, we are simply not playing well enough. It doesn't matter what formation you are playing in, if you are playing one up front we have the players, fitness and ability to get forward and support. It can be a real handful to pick up the deep runners so it can work in your favour. It is nothing to do with formation we are just not playing well."

One point from the last 15 available is a bad run by anyone's standards but Andy claims to have been in this situation before:-

"I have been in teams that have hit losing streaks. It is not nice; you do not enjoy coming into training every day so we need to address that and get back to winning ways and as quick as possible."
