Andy after second home win since May 2011

ANDY DOWIE

Andy Dowie spent a whole season at Partick Thistle in 2004-05 so he is well aware how the Glasgow outfit approach trips to East End Park. The only goal in his 33 appearances for the Jags while on loan from Rangers, was scored at Dunfermline in a CIS Insurance Cup tie that they lost even after Andy's header had cancelled out a Craig Brewster opener. Goals from Scott Thomson and Noel Hunt then saw the Fifers through to meet Hearts in the next round.

That was some time ago now and he has spent periods at Stranraer and Ross County before notching up his 100th start for the Pars against Kilmarnock on the final day of the SPL season. It was not a season that he cares to remember and this Saturday, ever mindful of the solitary home win last season, he is keen to kick start some proper home form.

"It is only the second league game but it is important that we have good home form - everybody is still going on about how bad it was last year.

"We need to get the fans excited about the season. We did well in the first game but we need to continue that. We will be going all out for the three points but I am sure that Partick will be coming fancying themselves for the three points as well so it should make for an entertaining game. They have a strong squad and I am sure come the end of the season they will be up there."

The 29 year old desperately wants to give the home support something to cheer and knows that the relationship is two way:-

"It's a fresh start, we had a great crowd at Cowdenbeath and they really got behind us. We are hoping for a good support on Saturday and that we can get off to a good start.

"At Cowdenbeath we didn't start well but we were always comfortable and we scored some great goals. We were really clinical; looking back we probably only had six or seven chances and four of them were goals. That was pleasing and our clean sheet was important. There was only one recognised striker in the team but even at that we still banged in four goals."
