"I hope to show the Manager that I am back fit again, it is up to him from there.

Greg Ross in action v East Fife 09/10/08

Greg Ross was back playing for Dunfermline Athletic in the Fife Cup Semi Final against East Fife on Thursday. He has managed only one appearance in almost 18 months after the tendon in his left patella almost snapped. The injury required surgery in London at a top hospital and extensive rehab under the supervision of the club physio Gerry Docherty.

Now all the exercises to build up the muscle around the wound to get the knee working again have got him back in action. Greg explained how important that was for him:-

"I had a few games at Cowdenbeath which was good to get my fitness back but it is good to be back at Dunfermline. I want to give the Manager problems by pushing to get in the team. I am delighted that my injury is behind me now and I can push forward.

"Unfortunately it was a bad result but good to be back playing. We had a young team out, I thought we played well but it was just three set pieces. That was quite poor but it is something that can be worked on and improve on."

Last season's experiences for Greg watching from the stand is one that most Pars fans fully understand:-

"Last season was a nightmare, I was more a fan than a player last season - it wasn't nice for everyone - but this season has started better. We are up the top of the league and there are ambitions to win promotion."

Greg filled in a little more of his experiences with the Blue Brazil:-

"I was there a month but played only the first two games. Danny Lennon said that he didn't want to upset the balance of his team by leaving players out and then having to bring them back in the week later. I understood that but there was a good bunch of boys there, I wish them all the best and I can only thank them for letting me play a couple of games anyway."

Now Greg just needs more games and he already has his eye on next Tuesday night's home game against Arbroath:-

"I hope to show the Manager that I am back fit again, it is up to him from there. It will be difficult because the team is playing well so I have just have to do my best and try and give the Manager problems. It is all the healthier for him if he has a lot of players to select from."
