Backing is really remarkable

Monday, 1st Jun 2015

A Thank You from the Board of DAFC for your support of our club “Through Thick and Thin”

We are only just into the first day of June, but the Board of DAFC felt it was appropriate to acknowledge the fantastic support provided by the Pars Family in just a few short weeks. We recently asked for the backing of our supporters, which was not easy after the season we experienced, but the response from Pars fans since has been unbelievable!

DAFC Season Tickets only went on sale three weeks ago on 8 May, but as at close of play on Saturday we had already sold 1,452! This a remarkable achievement and is testimony to the loyalty and passion of our supporter base. Our initial target was sales of 1,900, but at this early stage it appears that we may well surpass last season’s total of 2,100.

It is very heartening to hear that we have seen a number of new applications already this year, as well as a number of former season tickets deciding to renew again. In addition, over 70% of purchases have been made by cash or cheque which further assists our club greatly so we would like to place on record our gratitude to all supporters who were able to help in this manner.

Let’s keep the momentum going and all encourage as many friends, colleagues or family members as possible to purchase or renew a season ticket for next season.

The appointment of a high calibre manager like Allan Johnston has already provided a big boost to the supporters, along with Sandy Clark’s addition to the coaching staff. Allan is working very hard at present, whilst remaining patient, to ensure that we recruit the right type and quality of players for next season.

Allan Johnston commented “I have only been at the club a short time, but I can see the passion there is for our club, amongst loyal supporters who have backed DAFC through thick and thin. We need to hit the ground running next season, and I intend to have the players back earlier for pre-season this year. We need a big, noisy home support at East End Park next season, so I would urge as many supporters as possible to back our club by purchasing a season ticket.”

Ross McArthur, DAFC Managing Director stated:-

"it is not only the season ticket numbers that are fantastic, our Centenary Club Lifeline membership is now sitting at 1,057 the highest figure in its 30 year history. In addition, we received fantastic support from the Pars Family in making our “Legends of Rock" concert such a success on Saturday.

"The backing our club receives from so many people, who care deeply about it, is nothing short of remarkable. As we stated a couple of weeks ago, the current Board of DAFC will never take our fans for granted so we felt it was only right, even this early, to acknowledge and thank supporters for their backing to date. I would also like to publicly thank volunteers David Laming, Elaine Brebner and Karyn Rennie, all of whom have worked tirelessly in our ticket office, alongside Matt assisting with season ticket renewals in the last few weeks”
