"Dunfermline dominated the game but we could have nicked it at the end. I would not say that we deserved to win the game but we defended well.

Chris Smith was keeper at Dunfermline from November 2009 through to 2012 and he was pleased to be back at East End Park on Saturday to register a shut out for Stenhousemuir in front of home fans who always have a 'warm' welcome for him. The keeper who turned 28 earlier this month told the website:-

"I had a couple of saves to make early on in the first half but that is what I am there to do. If I can help the boys out in any way that I can, I will. Second half was a bit different and felt like the Alamo at times. Ross Forbes was delivering some great corners on top of me and putting the pressure on. It was like trying to get anything on it to keep it away from that goal.

"To be fair to the players in front of me they were outstanding; we defended well and maybe on another day we could have sneaked a goal on the counter as a sucker punch.

"We reacted well, at times there were arms going everywhere and the boys round about helped me out."

For all the pressure that Stenhousemuir sustained they themselves had chances to win the game near the end:-

"Errol Douglas had a chance and Page at the back made a great block. There were a couple in the first half as well so we had chances to sneak a wee result. Dunfermline dominated the game but we could have nicked it at the end. I would not say that we deserved to win the game but we defended well.

"That's six draws and one win in seven games. Every point is good for us."

Despite being a member of the Pars First Division Championship winning team in 2011, Chris noted that he got his usual East End Park welcome:-

"The fans were their usual - on my back - but the people that work with the club are great. I thoroughly enjoy coming back and speaking to them."
