Hopes pinned on swift return
Monday, 7th Sep 2015Ryan Williamson: "I have been told that I should be back quicker than if my leg had been put in a cast.
After incurring a double leg break in the closing minutes of the Petrofac Training Cup tie at Forfar, 19 year old full back Ryan Williamson went through an operation a week later. Ryan told the website how things went:-
"The surgeon had dealt with a few footballers in the past so I knew I was in good hands. I have had a couple of x-rays and the leg seems to be starting to heal and line up again."
Before going in for the operation young player took advice from the manager, physio and several others with similar experiences. They all confirmed that a pin was the best way to go.
"I have a pin down the full length of my shin and it is there to stay. I have a long way back but I know what to expect after my dislocated knee cap last season. I was out for just about three months last season, I know what's coming and know how hard the rehab is.
"I need to keep positive and work as hard as I can to get back. The support of the fans has been incredible. All the messages I have had on social media are quite humbling. All the backing including the manager, Kenny the physio and all the players makes me even more determined to get back out playing.
"I have been told that I should be back quicker than if my leg had been put in a cast. That's obviously dependent on everything going to plan so we will have to wait and see. I have been extremely bored so I can't wait to get moving again."
