Jim Hamilton Post Rangers

Saturday, 11th Nov 2006

"It is easy saying that a new manager is coming in but we need to perform on the park. We need to start getting results because we are drifting away with Dundee United winning again.

"We came with a plan and it was working for 60 minutes; we came to frustrate them because we knew they were under pressure. We lost the goal when Boyd turned the defender brilliantly. Up until then they have a lot of the ball which you expect when you come here. We were hanging in there.

"We read the papers and know that the crowd are turning on them a bit. Our plan was to hopefully get the crowd on our back and then go on and express ourselves. If we could have held out another five or ten minutes then they might have turned on them but credit to the Rangers fans they kept getting behind them until they got the goal.

"Then we opened out a wee bit, changed our formation and try to get back into the game but the second goal probably killed it."

Jim Hamilton v Rangers 11/11/06

Jim had been moved up front beside Stevie Crawford who had ploughed a loan furrow up until Rangers scored. His first hour's role had been on the left side of midfield and very often he was deep to help out his defence:-

"I will play anywhere to get on the park" added Jim who lamented the absence of ten of the first team pool.

"Craig just worked with the players he had available. Obviously the new manager will come in and give the boys a lift. It is easy saying that a new manager is coming in but we need to perform on the park. We need to start getting results because we are drifting away with Dundee United winning again and opening up a gap. It is a massive game next Saturday already when United come to our home.

"Stephen Kenny has done well in Ireland; he has taken teams to the league championship and Derry to the UEFA Cup and done really well. They drew with PSG this year and he has the capabilities to be a top class manager. Hopefully he can give us some good new ideas and a freshness that we probably need."
