Jordan McMillan Post Raith

Monday, 19th Nov 2012

"The sending offs have changed it. That is part and parcel of football and we have taken advantage of it second half."

Jordan McMillan v Raith Rovers

Pars captain Jordan McMillan reflected on the aggro in Saturday's local derby at Starks Park:. He felt its all part of a derby match so wasn't unduly worried about it. He first dealt with the sending off of his Raith Rovers counterpart Allan Walker:-

"Yes, I think it was a bad challenge but I think the situation could have been dealt with a wee bit better. Thats what happens when tackles go in like that. He sent somebody off and obviously ended up with another one off. That happens in derby games.

Half Time fracas at Starks Park

"One of their players was obviously given a second yellow card, it was the boy Dougie Hill and Ryan Thomson on our side was given a yellow card. He (Dougie Hill) ended up getting sent off so they were down to nine men. There was nothing in it just a silly argument about the tackle that the boy got sent off for."

The Pars had gone behind midway through the first half when the former Pars striker, Pat Clarke headed in the opener. Although Stephen Husband had got the Pars level from a 37th minute free kick, the sending off of Walker eight minutes later was a turning point in the match:-

"When they are down to nine men it is to our advantage but at the end of the day, we were doing okay when we went 1-0 down but it was quite even. The sending offs have changed it. That is part and parcel of football and we have taken advantage of it second half."

Cardle and Husband scored second half goals to ensure Dunfermline got back to their winning ways but until the third goal went in two minutes from time, it did become a bit nervy towards the end.  The 24 year old agreed:-

"It always is. You end up overcommitting sometimes when you get that advantage. We came out with the three points, that's the most important thing, it doesn't matter how many goals we scored. Partick Thistle dropped points last night and that's a good thing for us while we have taken three points..

"Regardless of Friday night's result, this was a derby game - any derby game you go into - you have to step up to the mark. Coming off the back of a bad result against Thistle, their result gives you a lift and you are back up level.

"Last week was a really bad day at the office but it was one of those things. We have come out against Raith, got the three points and we are back up the road happy and top of the league with them. It is out of our mind already.

"The good thing about football, you always get the next game. Regardless of how you play the week before, you always get the next week to rectify it and I think we did that today. The three points are the most important thing for us."
