Little Mr Moffat is Luka charm

Michael Moffat's one year old son Luka has been a lucky charm for the Pars this season but he is unlikely to remember his Dad's delight at breaking his goal scoring duck against his old club. Luka was in the stand with Michael's mum when the 33rd minute opener was headed in at Somerset Park on Saturday. Michael admitted:-
"It has been preying on my mind a wee bit, so it was nice to get it out of the way. I got a glancing header on it to put it into the far corner. It was a great cross from Michael Paton."
The lead lasted only three minutes until Ayr centre back Gerry McLauchlan headed in at the near post at a corner from the right.
"They say that is when you are at your most vulnerable after scoring. It was some header from the boy, I was actually on the post but it just flew right above my head before I had a chance to do anything about it.
"The goal gave them a bit more confidence but it must have been a bit close to half time anyway. It was important to get in level then go again in the second half."
The second half was only seven minutes old when Joe Cardle's sending off made the visitors' job of securing all three points that bit harder.
"I did not see what happened, I don't know if he clipped him in the box but the referee booked him. Then everyone had turned back ready for the free kick then I turned around to see him shown a red card. I don't know what happened but he says that he did nothing wrong. We will take his word for it and see it on the video.
"We would probably have settled for a point at that stage because it was a bit backs to the wall and defending deep. Then we broke away to get a fantastic goal. After that we defended well and are just delighted to get the win.
"There were a few scary moments with balls flying across the box, they had a lot of corners and setpieces but we have got a lot of big boys in defence and they all stood up to win their battles. I was delighted because they were pushing for it in the end.
"The fans were all going wild but I actually missed that celebration at the end because I had my wee boy here with my mum. I went up to see him because he has been a wee good luck charm, we have not lost when he has been at a match. I think I need to bring him every week.
"The result is a massive confidence boost for us. We have gone to Ayr and won twice in the space of two weeks. Ayr were at the top of the league but that is us there now and three points clear. Ayr have a game in hand but we are on a great run at the moment and just need to keep it going."
