Jim McIntyre told the website:-

"Paul has been a top goalkeeper over the years and we are delighted to get him. He was sought after by a few other clubs so I'm very very pleased to have secure his signature."

Chris Smith who played in goals in every First Division match last season on the Pars journey to the title agreed a new deal last month. The Manager added:-

"It is important that we have two good keepers vying for the number one spot and Paul's arrival will provide good competition."

Recognised from a very early age as a good prospect , Paul got his first taste of first team football when he was loaned out by his then club, Dundee United to Airdrie in 1999. He subsequently became United's first choice goalkeeper and remained so until he signed for Norwich City in June 2004. During that period he won Scotland U21, B international and full Scotland caps. In total he has eight Scotland caps, the last against Estonia on 27th May 2004.
