Manager Post Aberdeen

Thursday, 22nd Jul 2010

21/07/10:- "You don't want to lose the goals that we were losing. As a team we were far stronger tonight. When we lost the ball we were quickly back into positions to make it difficult for Aberdeen.

Jim McIntyre was happier after watching his side defeat Aberdeen 1-0 at East End Park on Wednesday night:-

"You never want to lose as many goals as we have done and in the manner we did. I felt that we were a lot tighter tonight and looked more compact as a team. We passed the ball really well."

The Manager stressed again that the most important thing was to be ready for Saturday onwards.

"You don't want to lose the goals that we were losing. As a team we were far stronger tonight. When we lost the ball we were quickly back into positions to make it difficult for Aberdeen. They did that very well tonight and it was something that we had spoken about. We watch the video of the games and try and learn from that.

"It is another 90 minutes game time for people and it is always good for your striker to score. It was a great ball in and I think it took a wee deflection that took it over the goalkeeper but it was a good move. A good piece of play from Joe Cardle released Kirkie and he found his partner who stuck it away. Even I could have scored that one!"

Dunfermline v Aberdeen

Macca felt that there could have been more goals:-

"Wee Nicky definitely should have buried one in the first half but he is getting himself into positions. He could have had three on Saturday against Man U, but he will get goals because there is no doubt that he is a goalscoring midfielder. As long as he gets himself into these kind of positions the goals will come."

Nick Phinn v Aberdeen

Asked about Saturday he described the opposition, Arbroath as "tough":-

"These kind of games are always really tough games. They drew last week with Dundee and these games are never easy games."
