06/02/16: AJ - "I thought we were in control of the game for large periods"

Allan Johnston was pleased with his side's convincing 3-0 at Stenhousemuir:-

"It was good to bounce back with a good performance and get a few goals as well. When you look at the quality of the goals, the first one is as good as you see. It was a great bit of individual skill from Faiss, some good passing and obviously a good finish as well. That set the tone for the remainder of the game.

"I thought we were in control of the game for large periods and obviously good for Geggs to pop up and score two goals as well."

Manager and players showed great patience waiting until just four minutes prior to the break before going ahead:-

"We were but you could see similar to Friday night as well, they were camped in their own half and they are a danger on the counterattack because we are pushing that many people forward. You are always left exposed a wee bit but we had a lot of pressure and the goal was coming."

The Stenhousemuir emergency signing, Colin McCabe had a great game in goals and undoubtedly kept the size of the Pars win down considerably:-

"Some of the saves he had were unbelievable. We didn't know much about him before the game but he definitely did well. It was a great performance from him, there were a couple of really top class saves. In the first half where he pulled one out of the top corner from Joe Cardle. It was fantastic.

"I am delighted with the way the boys played. When you look at Craig Reid (pictured below) on his debut, he came in and looked as though he had been there all season. It is all positive."

Peterhead's win at Ayr means that Dunfemline's lead at the top of League One is now eight points but with thirteen games remaining the manager feels that there is still a long way to go in the season:

"You see Peterhead beating Ayr, a fantastic result for them but Ayr are very dangerous, they have a lot of quality players and it sets it up for a great game next week."
