Manager Post Stirling

Saturday, 30th Oct 2010

30/10/10: JM - "We got slack at times but in the main we are very pleased; that is another three goals and another home victory."

Jim McIntyre was delighted with the 3-0 home win over Stirling Albion and especially with the special free kick from Wullie Gibson for the opener:-

"We knew that Stirling would come and try and set up to be hard to break down. It was important that we stuck to what we do well; try to move the ball quickly. I thought we did that at times and created good opportunities. We needed somebody like Wullie to produce a moment like that - it settles the nerves a wee bit.

"We were concerned with Stirling's attacking nature and weren't happy with our back four to be honest. We spoke about that at half time and how we need to stay solid and not switch off. I think there is a tendency sometimes when a team does play one up front that you think 'there's four of us here' there is no danger and sometimes that can be a false sense of security. We got slack at times but in the main we are very pleased; that is another three goals and another home victory."

An added bonus was a defender chipping in with a goal. Calum Woods headed in a goal at Ibrox last month but this was the first this season from his boot:-

"He has that in his locker, we have seen him do it a few times. We were screaming for him to pass it but he cut inside and banged it into the corner. That shows you what I know!"

The Manager revealed that keeper Chris Smith had received eleven stitches in his chin:-

"He took a really bad one; his chin was sliced right open. He will be fine for next week or else he is not a proper goalie" joked Macca.

"The ball was there to be gone for and the striker went for it so I have no qualms about the challenge."
