Jim Jefferies had warned that it is always tough for teams when they go to Stranraer and Saturday proved just right he was.

"I was angry with them at half time because we started the game really well and got a goal. Then I thought we missed two great chances with Gozie's free header.

"There is no doubt that the sending off changed things. We are disappointed that we lost the header and let the boy through. It set us back and I thought from there for the rest of the half we were lucky to come in at 1-1. They got a lift from it and they played really well from there until half time.

"At half time I had to get in about them and tell them that it wasn't about playing well. 'You are a man down, you have to go out there and show if you want to be up there challenging for promotion, you have to come down to places like this and when you are up against it, show a bit of character'.

"Even with ten against eleven I thought we started the second half better. There is no doubt there was a bit of stupidity from Craig Malcolm. What possessed him to put it in with his hand?

"When it went to ten v ten you could see that we gained in confidence and we created a number of chances; Geggan could have had a hat trick today. How he missed the one at 1-1 I will never know? Moffat laid on all the chances that he had and he has taken them all first time. Andy Geggan of last year would have slotted them away.

"As long as he keeps getting in there on the end of things it will turn for him. I will maybe have him back in on Monday for a bit of finishing" joked the Pars boss.

"It wasn't great in the second half. With ten men you know what you are going to get. You have to stand up to it and if you don't, they will beat you. It is a simple as that but we stood up to it and battled away.

"We re-jiggled the formation two or three times in the second half. We had a back three to start, then went back to a back four when the man got sent off for a wee while. Then they put Willie Gibson through the middle so we went to a back three again.

"For me the whole highlight of the second half was Ryan Williamson. They just couldn't stop him, he sent a couple of good chances and he was unlucky himself. The one I'd give him a bit stick for is that last one, he should have taken it into the corner and just stood there. I don't know why he was trying to score there. He slipped and the goalie booted it up the park and we were under pressure.

"That is just inexperience but what a joy to watch him going up that wing at times. He is hard to stop, he has got good feet. As he gets older and wiser he will produce a lot more goals and score goals himself.

"I was much more pleased that we showed the tenacity that you need to show at Stranraer. We showed a bit of resilience in the second half and when we got our goal we battled really really well. They are always going to be dangerous especially when they put balls into the box.

"They had a couple of headers that could have caused us problems, having said that I think the clearer cut chances were at the other end with Geggan that could have finished them off.

"Coming to a place like this, gives you a marker in going to tough places. This is one of the toughest in the league to come to and get a result. It showed that last year so I am really pleased.

"After being in on Monday, they have earned a few days off next week because we do not have a league games. Going into an international break it is always nice to go into it with a win. It means everybody is buzzing. We had to work hard for it and Stranraer made sure that we had to do that."
