Rab Douglas fends off suggestions that Forfar players have too many years

Forfar Athletic goalkeeper Rab Douglas described Saturday's match as a 'Game for Goalies'.

"It is good to come away from home and get a clean sheet. Ryan Scully made some great saves but we are still top of the league. We are there on merit."

It was the former international goalkeeper, with 19 Scotland caps, who ensured that his team left on Saturday in that position since he thwarted Dunfermline's ambitions to leapfrog them by saving a 85th minute penalty.

"It was probably my only save all game to be honest. No disrespect to Dunfermline, you have to step up and it is good to help the boys out now and again. They have been sensational and could have won the game comfortably had it not been for Ryan.

"There is miles to go in the league, we are not daft but it is a nice place to be. All teams want to come and beat you so it is good to come to East End Park and give them a right game."

At the age of 42 Rab is the elder statesman in Dick Campbell's team but he brushed aside suggestions that age was a disadvantage for his defence:-

"Would you drink a whisky or would you drink malt whisky? It is a good age but good experience. To come away from a full time club with a clean sheet and one of the best goal differences in the league, I don't think that there is any problem at Forfar regarding age."

The late penalty did not frighted big Rab and relished the argument that Dunfermline had over who was taking it.

"I think that helps me. If you go the right way you have a chance of saving if you go the wrong way or he smashes it down the middle, he is the hero. It was the only save I made. Ryan made some exceptional saves and it was nice to go up and congratulate him at the end.

"A goalie works all week for a clean sheet and even if it hits somebody on the backside and hits you on the face and you keep it out, you are delighted."
