Ross Jack made 135 starts for Dunfermline, scoring 55 goals.

ROSS JACK

ROSS JACK Many Pars fans were delighted to see Dunfermline drawn away to Elgin City in the Fourth Round of the William Hill Scottish Cup because it pitches the City manager against one of his former clubs.

Dunfermline paid a bargain £15,000 transfer fee to bring Ross Jack from Dundee on 23rd October 1987. He scored on his debut the following day in the 3-2 defeat at Motherwell.

His Pars career only really came alive the following campaign however, with his being top scorer with 18 goals as the club won the First Division.

A Premier League season followed and Ross waded in with a remarkable 21 goals, and was again top scorer under Iain Munro with 10 goals before moving onto Kilmarnock in July 1991. 55 goals in 135 starts for Dunfermline.

Ross comes from the Black Isle and began his football life at Ross County before going on to Everton.  His one appearance for the Merseyside club did little to ignite his career but he made a much bigger impact at Norwich City and Lincoln before returning north to play for Dundee.

It was from Dundee that Jim Leishman brought him to East End Park.

Kilmarnock paid £45,000 when he left the Fifers and following that he tried football in Ireland with Sligo Rovers.

That was short lived and he returned to become player manager at Montrose and he ended his playing career with Ayr United.

Coaching began as SFA's Highlands and Islands area community development officer and then as the SFA's North of Scotland Football Development Officer.

After a short spell as Assistant at Ross County, he joined Elgin City in January 2009.

Elgin City was granted league status in 2000 when the SPL was expanded to twelve clubs leaving two places. Peterhead joined them in the Third Division from the Highland League.
