Goalscorer last time out against his former club, Michael Moffat keen for a repeat

It took Michael Moffat seven games at Dunfermline before he scored a goal against Ayr United. His goal at Somerset Park helped the Pars to an important three points the last time the teams met. He told the website:-

"It was nice to get one there the last time, it was a long time coming and hopefully I can get another one. Some teams you seem to score against all the time, it is just one of those things but I got the monkey off my back last time. Hopefully I can go and get another one on Saturday."

The two Pars wins at Ayr this season in the William Hill Scottish Cup and then in League One set up the Fifers to go on a good unbeaten run.

The club Michael left in the summer of 2014 have been pushing Dunfermline at the top of League One all season but now sit ten points behind.

"You need to pick up points from the teams round about you. We got a good point up at Peterhead, they are hard to beat but you don't want to lose to teams round about you and lose ground. So this is a massive game and we know that if we can win it puts Ayr in a difficult position to come back from.

"Peterhead are expected to win when they play Forfar. They are flying at the moment and had a good result down at Ayr last week. We just need to keep winning, keep doing our job and try not to worry too much about other results. As long as we do our job then it really doesn't matter what other teams are doing. If we keep winning then there is nothing anybody else can do."

After the Pars convincing win at Stenhousemuir last Saturday Michael is keen to keep the games coming and if hopeful that the forecasted overnight snow will not be severe and cause postponement of just their second match of the winter.

"If Ayr were to win they would take lots of confidence from it. With a game in hand the gap could be down to as little as four points. We know if we can win, even if Ayr win their game in hand ten points is a big ask to come back from."
