Nick Phinn Post Stenhousemuir

Sunday, 10th Jan 2010

"It was one of days when everything seemed to go for us. Even though we still didn't play as well as we can, we still managed to score seven goals.

Nick Phinn v Stenhousemuir

Nick Phinn was delighted to be back in the starting eleven against Stenhousemuir for the first time since October and to have scored his second goal of the season

"It was my first start in a wee while so I was delighted to get in amongst the goals. My last one was against Queen of the South in the league."

Nick grabbed the opportunity to press for a more regular start when Jim McIntyre put him in ahead of Alex Burke:-

"The Manager said to be before the game that it was a wee chance for me to go a stake a claim for next week's game. He said to go and take your chance. We managed to play well as a team today and hopefully I have done that. I will just have to wait and see how it goes."

Dunfermline's demolition of Stenhousemuir saw six players names on the scoresheet yet Nick thought the winning margin could have been greater:-

"It was one of days when everything seemed to go for us. Even though we still didn't play as well as we can, we still managed to score seven goals. It looks like a great scoreline in the paper but it could have been more. There were chances and more goals to be had but it was just our final ball that let us down. It would have been great to have got more goals but seven is still a great result no matter what."

Glad to be in the hat for the next round, the 22 year midfielder had little sympathy for his opponents who were soundly beaten.

"We have to be ruthless and concentrate on our own game. We were delighted with our own performance but you have to feel for them after the game. You don't like to see any team lose seven goals."
