Admission: from £17 and £11 for concessions |
Wednesday sees the first of two Festive home matches that promise a veritable feast, stuffed with spice and served up with all the trimmings. Dunfermline`s last home match was against Falkirk in the final match of the 2010-11 season. It was a celebration for the Pars winning the First Division title with the presentation of the Championship trophy and all. What a day and what a night it was but lost in all the excitement was the first home victory over the Bairns since Derek Laing`s winner on 9th October 1993. That was ten league visits before but of course Dunfermline did beat Falkirk 2-0 in the League Cup in October 2002 courtesy of a Stevie Crawford double. The Pars have the upper hand in league meetings at East End, but only just.

Falkirk lie in sixth position in the First Division and were probably expected to be higher than that at Christmas. Dunfermline are in second position two points behind Partick Thistle who also have a game (against Cowdenbeath) in hand. The Fifers are just one point behind Morton but the Greenock side will be at Firhill to face the league leaders on Boxing Day.

Until Saturday`s 4-1 win at Airdrie, Falkirk had won just two league matches on the road this season - at Morton and Dumbarton. Now they have won their last four matches and come to East End Park full of confidence.
The Pars results have taken a bit of a stutter of late with full points last taken from the home match against Dumbarton in November. Local derbies are special events however and fans on both sides will remember well the comeback in October when Dunfermline clawed back a two goal deficit to take a point. Anything can happen and it probably will.
