Relief to avoid a la Gui end

Monday, 10th Oct 2016

Three goal Farid El Alagui has mixed day, after asking himself "what have I done?"

"Scoring an own goal is not a nice feeling" was Farid El Alagui`s opening comments. Saturday`s goal for Queens Park was the first time the French Moroccan had found his own net and he was glad that it did not matter in the end all because he had scored two goals at the right end before that.

"When I saw the ball in the net, I thought oh no what have I done. Unfortunately that is football, you can be a hero scoring two and be the bad one scoring an own goal.

"I am just pleased that we went through and I will try to forget to that one."

The 31 year old striker has yet to start a match for Dunfermline but he has come off the bench to score winners in the last two home games. He was introduced at the start of the second half to partner Nicky Clark up front. Within three minutes he had broken the deadlock. He continued:-

"The ball bounced in front of me, that`s the bit of luck you need to help you. I was pleased to be at the right place to manage to score the first one. It gave us a bit of a boost to go forward.

"I thought we were a bit nervous in the first half. We were maybe not as composed as we wanted to be. Second half we were much better and more like what are all about.

"I was pleased with the way we played the second half and managing to score a second one straight after as well. It was a positive afternoon."

Asked if he thought he had done enough to stake a claim for a starting place, Farid replied:-

"I am a striker, you want to score. Whether you play one minute or two minutes, you want to score. When I leave the pitch and try to leave it with a goal in my account. I managed to score two - I am happy with that.

"Next weekend the manager will decide what is best for the team and if he needs me he will use me. If it is someone else I will just try to play on the pitch and do well."

Next up is a league match away to Falkirk, the club he played for in 2011-2012, scoring 27 goals in 43 appearances in his only season at the club. Farid was looking forward to that and the next against Dundee United, another of his former clubs.

"It is an interesting month and good because when I signed I was pleased to see these fixtures. It is exciting and great games for the fans. That is football and we love the game in the hope that there will be some great games."

No match ball for sharing his three goals between the two sides but Farid will be trying to achieve that next time out. He laughed:-

"I will try in the next game to come with the ball in my hand, definitely for a hattrick for the right side."
