Dunfermline v Forfar 15/04/08

The two Athletics met in the final Reserve League match of the season at East End Park on Tuesday evening when Forfar were the visitors. The Pars fielded a trialist on the right side of their midfield and the mystery man looked very quick and delivered some useful balls.

In 10th minute he burst up the right wing and delivered a great ball that Paul Willis unluckily drove against the left post. Forfar centre forward Martin Grehan had two headers at goal from corner kicks after successfully losing his marker.

Charlie Bradshaw played the trialist into play again in 21st minute but his cross only forced a corner. Forfar`s David Dunn was forced to concede a free kick on the right corner of his own box but the ball was curled wide left by Scott Morrison.

A Bradshaw break down the left was headed behind by Stephen Tulloch but when the ball was delivered in from the left it was blasted wide by Stephen Lynch. The visitors were far from quiet and Chris Geddes shot from 25 yards went wide left then Tulloch from distance and Stuart from the edge of the box all failed to test Sean Murdoch.

The home side started the second half strongly with Trialist and Bradshaw again placing crosses into the box although Sol Bamba had to be at his athletic best to thwart Martyn Fotheringham who threatened to finish a neat chip into the box in 55th minute.

Former Dundonald Bluebell, Grehan fired a shot wide from an angle while at the other end MORRISON failed narrowly with a shot from a Willis cross. He got a better connection the next time when the Trialist swung over a chance for him. He struck a sweet one from the left side of the box to find the right side of the net and put Dunfermline one up on the hour mark.

That lead was extended 11 minutes later when Willis sent BRADSHAW down the left.  Keeper Andy Reid came out to narrow the angle but the young Pars player dragged it around him to slot home.

The visitors didn`t give up and ten minutes from the end forced an error out of the otherwise steady Lynch, but the youngster redeemed himself clearing a good chance. Murdoch was maybe lucky not to be penalised for the punch clear that flattened Allan Cruickshank in the process.

Cruickshank clinched the consolation goal in 90th minute from the penalty spot after Stuart`s ball to Fraser was thrashed at the target from the edge of the box and Bamba`s hand deflected the ball wide.
