Ryan Ferguson loan deal
Thursday, 18th Jul 2013Dundee United midfield deal all but wrapped up
Midfielder Ryan Ferguson has joined Dunfermline on a six month loan deal. The 19 year old from Kirriemuir claims his preferred position is wide left. He explained to the website just how his move to Dunfermline came about:-
"I was in training with United for the first week and then the manager, Jackie McNamara, said that he would like me to get first team experience by going out on loan for six months. He suggested that Dunfermline was an ideal place to come. He is quite close with Neil McCann so that move was perfect for me. I said 'yes absolutely ' so that's how it came about."
Ryan has been at United from the age of eight and went full time there when he was sixteen. This is going to be his fourth season as a full timer and towards the end of last season he had a two month loan to Brechin City. He described how he liked to play:-
"I like getting the ball at my feet and running at defenders, committing them and creating chances for somebody else who is in a better position than me."
There are no players at Dunfermline that Ryan knows but he recognises a few faces from playing against them at under 19 level. The fact however that he is coming into a very youth filled squad he claims has made it comfortable to be a new boy in training
"Everyone is young and fighting for a place. They are a good set of lads, it is a great easy going place and there are no massive egos in the changing room. Everyone gets on with each other and I am really looking forward to getting games.
"Hopefully I will get some first team games, I am delighted to be here and I can't wait to get involved. I got forty minutes on Saturday, it took me a little while to settle into the game. There was a big crowd and the fans were brilliant on Saturday. It took me five to ten minutes to calm down and get my touch right.
"I really enjoyed it and I thought we should have got something from the game as well."
