Scott Morrison Post Final

Monday, 28th May 2007

"The whole game was great, you are proud to be playing in a final but in the end you are gutted that you came so close to winning.

Scott Morrison called it a nice shock to be selected to play in Saturday's Cup final:-

"There were so many spaces up for grabs - there was four depending on what formation and what way he wanted to play."

Scott's starting place was created when Scott Muirhead was chosen to play further up the park.  Scott felt that the two former Aberdeen players linked up well:-

"Nakamura and Perrier Doumbe were a real threat all game but me and Scott had a good understanding and knew what we had to do and how to stop them.  It worked really well.

"The gaffer made the switch with 10 minutes to go and it was just a shame that Adam, who is attack minded, switched off for just a second and that's where the goal came from."

That was certainly the worst moment of Cup final day but Scott looked back on what was a day that he will remember forever.

"You were arming up and you were aware of the fans flags waving. It gave you a real buzz and I think it maybe played a part in my own performance. It helped raise my game. If we play with passion it gives the fans a bit more passion.  They were singing with passion and it gave us that little bit more fire.  It works like that. It showed towards the end of the season in the league, it does help.

"Just walking out on to the pitch with the crowd roaring sets the tone for the game. The whole game was great, you are proud to be playing in a final but in the end you are gutted that you came so close to winning. Especially after doing so well, to lose it to a softish goal was hard to take."

Nevertheless the Cup runners up medal and the strip that he is allowed to keep will give him pleasure in the future even though at this point it doesn't seem that way. Scott Morrison is one of a number of players whose contract is up at the end of May but he is hopeful that he might well be part of Stephen Kenny's plans for next season:-

"Hopefully we can get something sorted out in the next week.  I am confident having played in the final; if I hadn't played in the final it maybe would have been different."
