Scott Wilson Post Dundee

Monday, 5th Jan 2009

"I think we could have played there all week and not scored. It is something we need to look at.

Scott Wilson v Dundee 03/01/09

Scott Wilson appeared angered by his side's inability to take advantage of St Johnstone's match against Ross County being postponed.

"Playing like that we will not close anything. To be honest it is massively disappointing; it is really not good enough, we were upset in there (the dressing room) and more angry than anything. In the last third we were terrible, I didn't think we created anything. They looked comfortable enough back to forward and I think we could have played there all week and not scored. It is something we need to look at."

The Club Captain's fury was obviously centred on the missed opportunity to close the gap on the Perth league leaders to just two points:-

"Every time we get near to them, we seem to shoot ourselves in the foot. It is not acceptable to any of us in there especially after the terrible year that we had last year. What an opportunity we have got but at the minute we are throwing opportunities away - it's massively disappointing.

"We have a bit of work to do on the training field - we are a bit off it at the minute. St Johnstone and other teams have had runs but we have not had a run yet. It just doesn't come, you have got to work on it - I can't see it happening just now.

"The only way I thought Dundee were going to score today was from a penalty or a free kick. We gave away a soft free kick. The boy tucked it away fair enough but we didn't do enough for ourselves to win the game. That is more disappointing than anything.

"We didn't play too well against Livingston, we sneaked a result and when the games are like that you have to sneak games. It wasn't happening today.

"None of us want to be playing in this division - especially me. I want to be playing in the SPL but at the minute it is getting harder. There are 17 games to go, we missed big Baynee for his aerial threat. I thought we did play too many high balls into Kirkie and Rory Loy but it is not their game. To be fair to Jim (Lauchlan) and Craig (McKeown) I thought they did well for Dundee but we played into their hands."
