Stephen Glass Post Morton

Wednesday, 26th Dec 2007

"You can see the response that he has had; the results speak for themselves. I am sure that the players would be more than happy if Jim did get the job but that is other people's decisions.

Stand in skipper Stephen Glass was confident to take the penalty kick against Morton.

"I wouldn't take it if I didn't think I was going to score. If you hit it hard enough it is always difficult for the goalkeeper. I slipped and missed one a couple of weeks back so it's good to get back on them and get another goal. There are a few lads who would be more than willing to take over - Burchy would probably fancy them as well. It is not a case of I'm definitely going to take them anyway - if somebody fancies it and wants to take it then that up to them but if it is the responsibility that is no problem for me. It doesn't matter who scores.

"It is a tough place to come and get a point here; Morton are good - they play well and were sitting quite high up the table before we came here today. They are still above us on goal difference but it was important that we could come here and get the points. You can see the sort of fight we had to put in - they had a right good go in the second half. They are a good team especially here where they have the support that they have got behind them. They will take points off a lot of teams here."

The three points that Dunfermline left Greenock with took them equal on points with their opponents but even with Dundee losing to QOS and Hamilton drawing at Clyde, the Pars are still 16 points behind the Dees and 17 behind Hamilton Accies. Stephen is not looking any further than the team immediately above them:-

"We have been day to day recently but if we can go week to week and keep on picking up wins it is just a case of seeing where that takes you. After the position we got ourselves into a few weeks back, I don't think anyone is talking about winning leagues. As long as there are points there we shall see at the end of the season.

Stephen Kenny took Stephen Glass to Dunfermline but he would be pleased if Jim McIntyre is handed the job in more than just his caretaker capacity:-

"Jim is a different manager so he does different things. Every new manager that comes in has new ideas and it is always disrespectful to talk about previous managers. The fact that he is a new manager means he comes in with new ideas. People take that on board and try and get in his team, or not take that on board and don't be involved. It is a case of doing what Macca wants you to do.

"Even as a player he was quite demanding of the lads around about him. He is still like that as a manager, he can have a laugh and a joke but everyone knows that Jim's the Manager and that's important as well. Sometimes when people step up they can still be one of the lads but he obviously needs to distance himself a touch. He is managing to do that quite well I think.

"I am one of the senior players at Dunfermline and you just try to do your best every week. We have got a real good group of players who try to do well every week and hopefully we are starting to kick on now to do as well as we should be doing.

"It is not our decision but you can see the response that he has had; the results speak for themselves. I am sure that the players would be more than happy if Jim did get the job but that is other people's decisions. The players would be happy with that, yes.

"The results and what has happened since he took over, point towards him getting the job."
