Joe Cardle demonstrated on Saturday just why the Dunfermline fans chant is "Joe, Joe Super Joe". With two goals against Cowdenbeath in his 200th career start these brought his Pars tally up to 26 goals. The 28 year old was pleased to celebrate with the fans on what he described as "just a good day all round":-
"We knew that the pressure was going to be on. We have started the season so well and it was great to continue that on Saturday at East End Park in front of a fantastic 4000 strong support.
"I replied during the week to a question about whether or not we could get 7-1 saying there was obviously pressure on us but the way that we have been playing, we could easily do it. We went out and did it on Saturday, it is unbelievable.
"When we went in 4-0 up at half time we knew that there were more goals there. To get your tally up for the season, it is definitely good to have games like that when you can get two or three. For myself to get two goals is brilliant and incredible for Faissal to get another two goals.
"We didn't get hat tricks but I would have bitten your hand off had you said that before the game. I am just happy with another great team performance and hopefully we can take that into Tuesday's game.
"We are all enjoying our football, we are all getting a touch of the ball. We are spreading out wide, there is a lot of passing going on. As soon as we score goals everyone is joining in the celebrating. It is a good team even though we have only been together for four or five weeks. It is a very close changing room, one of the closest that I have been involved in. Long may it continue.
"I wasn't here last year but the boys stories are all doom and gloom. The manager had to come in and bring in his own players but days like Saturday don't happen very often. The fans were fantastic from start to finish. Hopefully we can continue that on over the season and we can celebrate that towards the end of the season as well."
Joe was one of the players to leave immediately the club went into administration but he has returned because he believes that he has unfinished business at Dunfermline:-
"I want to take this club back to where it should be. This league is the last place we should be and everyone knows that. The other teams in our league even know that but it is for us to do it. It is our job and we have to do it when it comes to Saturdays at three o'clock.
"We know ourselves that we are playing for our livelihoods. It is a great start but that is all it is. There is a long season to go.
"Scoring five, six and seven goals doesn't happen very often but consistency is key. The experience now in the team can help the other boys on. Pushing them on in the last ten or fifteen minutes and that is when we are getting quite a few goals.
"We are a fit team. We did a yoyo test during the week and the scores were magnificent just showing you how far fitness takes you over ninety minutes, you could see that on Saturday."
Joe looked ahead to the trip to Forfar in the Petrofac Training Cup on Tuesday night. Joe who is a survivor from the team knocked out of this competition at Forfar in July 2012 added:-
"It is a hard place to go and Forfar have been the bogey team over the last couple of years. We have to make that change now. As long as we keep playing our stuff on that tighter, awkward pitch we are in good stead to kick on in the cup as well."
