Pars overrun Dees by twice hitting two goals in two minutes

DUNDEE 2 DUNFERMLINE 5

The Pars U19s recorded a fine Easter Sunday win over Dundee at Glenesk Park, the home of Dundee Violet. With Harry McGregor off to East Fife Rees Smith returned at left back, John MacDonald slipped back to right back in place of the absent Blair McWhirter and since he is still eligible at this level Paul Willis dropped down from the first team squad to get valuable match practice.

Willis took just over two minutes to serve warning on the Dundee`s Graham Stark that he was in for a tricky afternoon; the left back was beaten before his keeper Mark Mackie was forced into the first save of the match. At this stage Dundee offered as much as the visitors with MacDonald heading clear a Conor Thomson cross.

In ten minutes Gary Bartlett drove dangerously over his own bar when Willis` corner from the left evaded both Graham and Leslie`s attempts and slipped through to the back post. Then from that corner Danny Casey cleared off his line at the left goalpost from a Leslie header.

The visitors deservedly took the lead in 17 minutes when great work by Conner Schivone over at the left corner flag allowed him to send over a fine ball that Rees SMITH met to powerfully head past Mackie. Scarcely had the defence gathered breathe when they were two down.  Schivone was just inside the Dundee half when his pass sent Willis free down the right and as he reached the right side of the opposition penalty box three defenders were drawn to him and so when his pass then reached LESLIE it was a relatively easy finish for 2-0.

Dundee got right back into the game in 27 minutes when striker Gordon Norrie was wide right to fire a low cross over that the yellow boot of Alan TULLETH smashed beyond the helpless Bald from 15 yards. Twelve minutes later a surging run by Connor Rennie saw him collect a 1-2 off Thomson before Bald made a brave save at his feet.

The half finished with Schivone beating off challenges on the right to lace the ball across goal but Leslie failed to connect and Scougall lifted his effort over the bar.

Hamish French would have told his players that they should have been further ahead at the break but within just 70 seconds of the restart the points were virtually sealed.  Willis sent Schivone into the box and even though he got a shot in, got clattered by Mackie and a penalty was awarded.  Only a yellow card for the keeper who dived to his right as WILLIS sent the spot kick the other way.

It proved to be a killer blow for Dundee as they struggled to mustard a challenge after that. A Tulleth shot from distance in 54 minutes and a Rennie one wide nine minutes later was all they could manage until they rattled in a consolation four minutes from time.  Before that however Dunfermline had hit twice more.

Scott McIntosh came on for Schivone in 72 minutes and within a minute he played the ball back to WILLIS who cracked in number four.  Another minute on and a reversal of roles saw Willis provide McINTOSH the chance and his cool finish made it 5-1.

Lewis Turner had two good efforts that nearly added him to the scoresheet but it was still a very comfortable away win.
