Rain fails to dampen eight goal storm

LOCHORE WELFARE 3 DUNFERMLINE 5

Considering that most of the game was played in awful conditions this fixture turned out to be quite entertaining. What helped was the park didn`t appear to cut up and most players managed to keep their feet.

In just three minutes Lochore had the first chance of the game when Calum Adamson rifled a shot against the crossbar. At this stage both teams were attempting to feel their way into the game and the first ten minutes were uneventful.

From an 11th minute corner Lochore corner the ball was played in right on top off the goalkeeper but Calum SPENCE just got to the ball before the goalkeeper and headed into the net to give Lochore the lead. At this stage Lochore were making it very difficult for Dunfermline as they were chasing everything and time on the ball was not an option for the young Pars who like to build through the midfield where possible.

A lucky bounce of the ball In 25th minute gave posession to Lochore and two passes later Calum Davidson had a shot which was heading for the top corner but Aaron Sommerville, the Dunfermline goalkeeper, pulled of a stunning save to push the ball out for a corner.

Two minutes later Dunfermline broke upfield and John MacDonald swept the ball to Aaron SCOTT who ran into the box and carefully placed the ball passed the keeper for a deserved equaliser.

The first half finished with Lochore in the ascendancy. Dean Crawford had ben replaced by Calum Davidson in 35 minutes and twice the sub might have scored but the Dunfermline keeper made a good save diving at his feet and then a timely block prevented what might have been a tap in on the line.

A good first half with both teams trying to play football, with Lochore maybe just shading it.

Half Time: Lochore Welfare 1 Dunfermline 1

The second half was only two minutes old when a free kick to Dunfermline was fumbled by the home keeper and Steven Leslie somehow screwed the ball past the post, a good chance wasted, but at least he was in the right position.

Fraser Moncrieff came on for Blair Henderson just five minutes into the second half and Dunfermline took the lead in 61 minutes when MacDONALD went on a good run on the right wing, beat a couple of defenders and slotted the ball past the keeper into the far side of the net. Dunfermline looked like they had increased the tempo and like their first team counterparts on Saturday were possibly responding to the coaches advice at half time!

Two minutes later Lochore equalised. This goal would either be classed as `amazing` or `lucky` depending on what team you support. Calum ADAMSON chased the ball down the left touchline and from that very same touchline floated a ball into the far side of the net via the post. What can you say except "where were the cameras"?

This set back seemed to spur Dunfermline on and in 68 minutes Moncrieff drove to the touchline and cut the ball back for Ben MARTIN to slot the ball home. A mere two minutes after that Dunfermline scored their fourth goal when MacDonald got the break of the ball and crossed into the area where Aaron SCOTT guided the ball into the net.

A free kick in 80 minutes brought another goal for Dunfermline when McDonald took a short free kick to Kerr YOUNG and he blasted the ball, through the wall, into the net from about 20 yards.

Dunfermline were now dominating the game but five minutes from full time Ross Drummond had to clear off the line and then in 88 minutes Lochore scored again through CRAWFORD who showed great strength to get passed the Dunfermline defence and slot the ball into the net. The ball was probably going in any way following Adamson`s shot.

A good win for the U19s and plenty of good performances which coach Hamish French can be proud off.
