On Tuesday 8th October the Under 20s met Celtic at the Energy Assets Arena that is the current name for Almondvale in Livingston. The match gave starting opportunities for several first team squad players including Kerr Young, Ryan Thomson, Jordan Moore and Allan Smith.

Both teams had chances early on Paul George for Celtic and Moore for Dunfermline but it was a stinging long range effort from Kerr Young that endangered Fasan`s goal but luckily for the keeper the 17th minute shot was close enough for him to stop.

A couple of Celtic free kicks in close succession kept the Pars defence alert with Goodfellow and Young making telling interceptions. At the other end Moore switched a pass from Ryan Williamson in the direction of Thomson but unfortunately with just too much weight.

In 33rd minute Dunfermline were reduced to ten men when Chris Kane was shown a straight red for his tackle on George on halfway. Three minutes later Williamson`s run on goal yielded a shot that Fasan tipped on to his right hand post.

Just on half time George collected the ball on the left and his cross field pass to Atajic created the breakaway that fed BALDE the chance to shoot home the opener.

Allan Smith scores equaliser v Celtic U20s

Seven minutes into the second half Moore provided a low pass to the right side for SMITH to run in and net from close in at the right post. 1-1

There were appeals in 63 minutes for a penalty but the referee saw nothing wrong with the challenge that sent Moore tumbling in the box.

Celtic were to score what turned out to be the match winner twelve minutes from time. Sub Mlllduff sent a low cross over from the left that Joseph THOMSON dispatched into the net. 2-1

In time added Pars sub Scott Mercer popped a shot from 20 yards out that escaped narrowly wide. That was a shame since the Fifers deserved something from the game. It had been a good all round performance with every team member contributing well.
