Former Jambo season ticket holder wants to play his part in keeping Pars in SPL

Paul Willis is keen to get one over on the team he supported as a boy:-

"We want the three points to close the gap on Hibs" claimed the 20 year old midfielder who has played in both games against Hearts this season so far. Paul started in December at Tynecastle, an experience he describes as brilliant:-

"I was a season ticket holder there for two years, there's always a great atmosphere and to play in front of where I used to sit and watch was a great feeling. It's just a pity we got beat 4-0.

"I am looking forward to Saturday, I don't know what the Manager's plans are but I came on at the weekend." Paul managed to put in what was a rare Dunfermline shot at goals and had a couple of runs that he hopes impressed Jim Jefferies enough to start him.

Paul has made 48 appearances for Dunfermline and despite only starting nine SPL games his appearances have been much more regular than in previous seasons.

"It has been frustrating but I have come on a few times. When you know that you have played and proved that I can play at this level, obviously you just want to try and get as many games as you can. There are still six games left in the important run in to the end of the season, so hopefully the Manager might put me in the team.

"We have six crucial games ahead of us and I want to play a part in trying to keep us up."

Paul has another year to run on his contract but is desperate that season is in the top flight.

"It has been brilliant playing against the bigger teams in the SPL. As a wide player you seem to get more time on the ball than you get in the First Division. Playing against Celtic and Rangers at Parkhead and Ibrox is what I want to be doing next season.

Paul has mixed emotions about his season in the SPL:-

"I have not played that many games in my career anyway but I have started twice against Celtic and there are not many boys of my age that gets to play against teams like that. On the other hand our league position and the thought of going back into the First Division is why there's mixed emotions.

"As I have said before, I firmly believe - and so too do all the other boys and the Manager - that we can stay in this division. There's no reason why we can't.

"We had a great start to the season and we were thinking that we had proved that we could compete at this level. It is just the mistakes that have cost us in games. The other teams around us have cut out the mistakes and nicked points that we have not done."
