Wilson welcomes end

Saturday, 19th Apr 2008

"The disappointing thing for this year, even since Macca has taken over is when we have played teams above us we have not managed to beat them. That is going to have to change ...

Scott Wilson feels like most Pars fans that the end of the season cannot come quick enough now.

"We can then look forward to next year, start afresh. Let's try and forget this year and try and move on. It has been horrendous; even if we had finished second and had a good season but to not get promoted it would still have been a bad season.

"Everybody in Scotland thought that we would bounce back up but when things started to go bad, the writing could have been on the wall early doors. After a few games it wasn't going to change and maybe it got too late when it eventually got changed.

"We are going to lose a few players this year, this squad is changing and it all depends on who the Manager is going to bring in. Obviously if we lose players we need to bring in players of the same calibre to have any chance of challenging.

"The disappointing thing for this year, even since Macca has taken over is when we have played teams above us we have not managed to beat them. That is going to have to change next year if we have ambitions of going back up."

Morton and Queen of the South are the remaining opponents for this league campaign and Scott has recovered from his knock on the knee in last Saturday's match against Clyde. Having missed out on the 1-0 Boxing Day victory at Cappielow, the Pars 30 year old captain is hoping to lead his team to another win in Greenock :-

"I have not played there this season. We won last time but apparently we should have got beat. They have changed their manager and are a typical First Division team - very hard to break down. If they get a goal in front they get more confident. They have a few good players who do a decent job for them.

"It all depends on us, if we start right then we have a chance. When we don't start well it is a totally different game."
