Dunfermline Athletic

£8300 for PoppyScotland

Monday, 24th Nov 2014

There is still time to buy raffle tickets to win two remaining 'Lest We Forget' shirts.

Dunfermline Athletic were delighted to have Christine Evans, Dunfermline organiser for PoppyScotland, and her husband Ivor (brother of Pars legend, Allan Evans). as guests at the Stirling Albion game.

This gave the opportunity for DAFC director, Margaret Ross, accompanied by Kenny McLachlan and Donald Adamson, to present Christine with a cheque for £8,300. The money was raised by a public auction of 34 'Lest We Forget' shirts signed by the present team or Dunfermline heroes of the past. It was fitting that one of those who contributed was Allan Evans who played for Aston Villa and Scotland as well as Dunfermline Athletic.

In addition the Club presented PoppyScotland with £500 after the WWI day in August, and over £800 was raised from Pars supporters in a bucket collection on October 25.

Dunfermline Athletic also was proud to send barrels of beer to two facilities supported by PoppyScotland. These are The Erskine Veterans Home and the Army Personnel Recovery Centre in Edinburgh. Thanks are due to sponsors: Co-operative Funeralcare and Abbot House Brewery.

The Club wishes to thank all supporters who have contributed so generously, in so many ways, to the PoppyScotland appeal.

There is still time to buy raffle tickets to win two remaining 'Lest We Forget' shirts. Tickets will again be on sale at the next home game on 6 December against Ayr United.
