ABERDEEN 4 DUNFERMLINE 0

Winter sunshine greeted John Potter's Under 20s squad when they arrived in Peterhead to face Aberdeen at the Balmoor Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. It was a young team with just Lewis Spence and Shaun Rooney with first team experience.

The visitors kicked off towards the car park end and into a strong wind and they were to get off to a disasterous start losing a goal in the second minute. Craig STORIE converted at the back post from a corner sent in from the left. 1-0

The Pars side was in defensive mode as then Cammy Gill saved a shot from Thomas albeit at the second take and then Spence cleared from a potentially dangerous Aberdeen corner from the right. Gill was out to gather at feet of Bruce Anderson to cover for a poor pass back before on 19 minutes Jordan Orru cut out a dangerous cross for a corner to Aberdeen. Lukas Culjak got a free header when the ball came over from the right but the defence cleared.

Dons midfielder Storie released shot that went wide of Gill's goal but the Pars keeper was struggling to get distance on his goal kicks due to the strength of the wind. He held a shot from distance in 27 minutes and watched another shot go wide.

On the half hour the Fifers won their first corner. John James Henderson delivered that from the left to Pars and although Shaun Rooney got his head to it but his effort went wide. Back at the other end Gill made a good save from Anderson before a Spence pass sent PJ Crossan through but the Aberdeen keeper won the race to clear.

Before the half time whistle Rooney cleared a header and Gill had a couple of saves in quick succession. The wind had really favoured the home team in the first half so it was an achievement to have restricted Aberdeen to just the one goal.

Half time: Aberdeen 1 Dunfermline 0

Pars kick off the second half with the wind at their backs hoping that it would work to their advantage. Things did look more promising as two corners were forced in the first five minutes of the second half.

Henderson won the first when his shot was deflected over Craddock's bar, then when he sent over the corner that was touched over by Craddock. This 49th minute corner came in low but Rooney was dispossessed and then Orru was unlucky in the box.

Robbie Crawford regretted not getting a better connection on a Crossan cut back as Aberdeen went back up the park and scored the second goal. Again the scorer was STORIE this time with a
header. 2-0

Dunfermline's efforts to get back into the game failed. In 58 minutes Reece Duncan was unlucky when put through by Spence but was offside when in a position to shoot. Then six minutes later
Cammy McClair was brought down in box and a penalty was given. Crossan stepped up but the 17 year old sent the ball just wide of left hand post.

Next there was another great opportunity to open the account but after good work by Crossan on left set up Callum Smith, the 16 year old's shot went wide.

With 20 minutes remaining Aberdeen were then awarded a penalty. Rooney was yellow carded for holding off his man and STORIE eas able to complete his hat trick. 3-0 to Aberdeen

The fourth goal came as a result of a cross in from the right that Frank ROSS headed home. The gap might have been even greater but in the last ten minutes Gill pulled off two saves in quick succession and when faced with a Thomas free kick had to palm that away as well.
