The Pars continued their good form with a convincing win over Stirling Albion on Sunday at the Fleet Ground.  The home side played the first half with a strong westerly wind on their backs and struggled to take advantage from it.

For most of the opening half hour Stirling contained them and should have taken the lead in 18 minutes when a good move down their right put in Michael McAdam to cross from the right.  Ryan Nimmo conjured up a remarkable miss sending his shot from right in front of goal over Craig Bald`s crossbar.

The nearest Dunfermline had come was a John MacDonald shot from the edge of the box that almost tricked keeper Calum Sinclair as it took a wicked bounce up off the six yard line / rut.  Then in 29 minutes a rare passing move came to an abrupt end as Ryan Thomson was chopped down by Ross Tierney.  Rees Smith swung over a high ball from the resulting free kick and Lee GRAHAM rose on the right side of the box to head the ball back into the left side of the net.

Just after going into the lead Jordan White headed down a chance to Steven Leslie and he was unlucky to see the effort escape narrowly wide of the right goalpost. It was just five minutes after going ahead when LESLIE doubled the advantage.  Stirling failed to properly clear at a Dunfermline attack and Aaron Scott pushed the ball left for the striker to drive a low shot from just inside the box on the left into the far corner of the Stirling net.

Before the break Leslie tested the keeper with a snapshot from 30 yards and the same player drove into the sidenetting when a squared ball to White might have proved the more fruitful option.  Thomson also came close when a White ball in from the right reached him but his header dropped wide right.

At the break Dunfermline were two up but the concern was that might not be sufficient given Stirling would have the assistance of the elements in the second half.

Half Time: Dunfermline 2 Stirling Albion 0

The home side started the second half strongly and White was unlucky in 55 minutes when he knocked down a crossed ball from the left to turn and fire inches wide of the left goalpost. Thomson headed a Leslie corner over the crossbar before Stirling got their turn to dominate.

Substitute Andrew Hunter cost the Binos a goal in 71 minutes when he helped the ball past Bauld from an offside position. A goal would have been a fine reward for a good movement started on the left, swept through the centre circle by Chalk then out right from where a shot was goalbound.  Three minutes later they were to go a further goal behind.

White exchanged passes with trialist Dean Elder to casually set up SCOTT.  The midfielder`s drive from 30 yards travelled low into the far lerft of the net.  Four minutes later WHITE rose to head an excellent Smith cross past Sinclair to make it 4-0.

That was the end of the scoring but White was denied what looked like a penalty claim in the stonewaller category and sub Conner Schivone`s brave header severely tested Sinclair in keeping it out.

It was a good result for the Pars who did not have it as easy as the score reflects but they worked hard and got their just reward.
