18 year old keeper returns

Eighteen year old goalkeeper Craig Burt has been signed for another season. He told this website:-
“I am delighted because I want to improve. When I came in last season it was a challenge, I had never been in full time before. I struggled to catch up but I got a lot of help from the other goalies.
“It is their help that is pushing me on along with Dave Westwood the goalie coach, he has helped me a lot as well. I want to do the same again next season and keep improving.
“At the start of the season my kicking was really poor but the other goalies have helped me out with my kicking out.
“The drills have helped me get a lot fitter and I sometimes do extra with Westie, working on my fitness and my footwork that makes me stronger and better.
“Goalkeeping is not as much fitness based, it is more power. My favourite time is shot stopping, all goalies like pulling off top corner saves and looking like a superhero. That is one of my strongest attributes.”
With there being no under 20 team last season Craig did not get a lot of game time, he said:-
“I had a couple of games with Fife Elite, we played Motherwell, Hearts and Rangers as well and went down to Sunderland twice to play a couple of games there. I thought I played alright so hopefully I will get a lot more games next season.”
John Potter explained that Craig was really really raw when they had taken a gamble on him last year but they have seen a massive improvement in the young keeper.
“It is not just the coaching staff, when the first team players notice the improvement in him that is what you are looking for. You are looking for young players to continue to improve.
“He is still very young for a goalkeeper, he is learning from Cammy (Gill) just in front of him, from Sean (Murdoch) and Lee (Robinson) and from Westie as well so he is in a good group of goalkeepers who love him and his attitude. Out of all the young boys he has the furthest to travel but he is first in and usually one of the last to leave.
“He really really wants to be a player. The improvement on him has been dramatic so I am delighted that he agreed to sign for another year and see where it takes him.”
