Captain uncovered

Tuesday, 10th May 2011

It's Ibiza and not Majorca for Austin McCann. "I didn't think it would end up like this! "

He may have only missed one of the Pars 36 league games this season but Austin McCann is missing out on the players celebratory trip to Magaluf. This is all because he promised his wife that they would go off on a family holiday to Ibiza this week.

"I will be switching my phone off for a few days" Ozzie claimed just to stop him getting calls from Majorca. He enjoyed Saturday's special celebration which he was keen that his son was part of. Rightly so because every player's son would be proud to see their father lifting a trophy."

The 31 year old Pars captain reflected on how fortunate he was to have had that privilege:-

"When the Manager made me captain I didn't think it would end up like this!  We knew that it was going to be a tough season but having completed six wins in a row it just shows how much we deserve it.

"Hopefully we will be a good addition to the SPL next season. It has been exciting this week but it is tinged with a bit of sadness with some boys leaving. New boys will come in, although we hope to keep the nucleus of the squad and we'd hope to go up there and do ourselves proud.

"Everybody was involved - it is a top team effort - a lot of people put in hard work behind the scenes and they deserved it as much as we do."
