Comeback from injury closer

Manager John Hughes is hopeful that on loan Leeds United striker Bobby Kamwa can still make an impact in Dunfermline Athletic’s season.
The Cameroonian forward who arrived at Dunfermline at the end of January, has had a recurrence of a foot injury that has meant his Dunfermline appearances have been just two, both times off the bench. The 21 year old has a problem with the front of his foot, just at his ankle. The manager gave an update today:-
“Bobby has actually gone back down to Leeds to get an injection in the affected area. The second scan came back. It’s basically just on the tendon — an old injury which has resurfaced a little bit.”
John Hughes revealed a frustration from everyone at Dunfermline, and he is sure that frustration is shared by Bobby, but the gaffer promised to assist in his recovery in every way possible:-
“Being away from home and picking up that injury, we need to be here for Bobby and give him plenty of support. We need to make sure we are here to help him.”
The players ability to change games was evident in both his appearances off the bench at Dumfries and Ayr where the woodwork denied him the match winner. Hughes is optimistic that the striker can return before too long:-
“Bobby has a part to play and we hope to get him back up here in the next couple of days and we can get him back going again.
“Listen, if Bobby Kamwa only plays the last two or three games of the season — or the last game of the season — and scores the winner to keep us in the league, then it’s all been worthwhile. The quicker he is back on the training pitch and showing what he is all about, I think we will be better for it.”
The Pars physio, Tommy Scanlon, has been working closely with Leeds and their medical team. The plan was to get him back down to Leeds where he would get a scan on the injured foot, an injection and look after him.
“Hopefully, that’ll all go well and they send him back up the road, ready to go.”
Meantime the manager reported goalkeeper Deniz Mehmet is starting to do some handling work:- “We are hoping to play a couple of practice matches and see where he is.”
The fitness of the 29 year old keeper who was capped for Turkey at youth levels is a concern given current first team keeper Jakub Stolarczyk will be joining the Polish Under 21 squad for their matches against Israel on 24th March and at home to Hungary on 29th March.
Jakub will play on Friday night against Morton but will miss Dunfermline’s next two matches against Partick Thistle and Inverness Caledonian Thistle. The manager explained:-
“Bringing in an emergency loan is still a possibility but that all depends on Deniz’s fitness. It’s all ifs and buts. We’ve been working hard to see what’s going about and we have one or two in the pipeline.”
The unused subs from Saturday played a friendly on Sunday against an American Naval team at Michael Woods Centre in Glenrothes. The team included young players including Andrew Tod junior.
