Danny up against GB

Saturday, 5th Apr 2014

The last time Danny played Airdrie it was in the same Brechin team as the current Airdrieonians manager Gary Bollan.

Grainger v Bollan

After serving a two match suspension, Danny Grainger will return to the Dunfermline side for the match against Airdrieonians and for the Carlisle born defender it has been a long two weeks.  He summed up what he had watched from the sidelines:-

"There was hard work to win last week after losing to East Fife. I was pleased for the boys to get a result. We knew that we let ourselves down and let the fans down after the East Fife game. There have only been one or two games since I arrived that the boys have not been tip top. Brechin were fighting for their lives but we got the result with a Ross Millen penalty at the end. He showed great composure for a young man."

Even before he joined from St Mirren in January, the 27 year old defender already recognised that the priority for Dunfermline had always been to finish as close behind Rangers as possible:-

"We want to finish as high up as we can and go into the play offs ready to play, get over the finishing line and make sure we get the break of the home game. We must get over the line and get up into the championship."

The last time Danny played Airdrie (February 2006) it was in the same Brechin team as the current Airdrieonians manager Gary Bollan. He observed:-

"I have played against Airdrie quite a few times. It will be a hard game again. There are no easy games at this stage in the season but we know that we have the quality in the squad.

"We are always in it together but last week was a huge boost to the the team. If we can keep the nucleus of the team together then it will be a good championship next season."
