Pre Season friendly against Derek McInnes`s Championship side: Pitman (11) 0-1; Adomah (29) 0-2

MATCH PICTURES
The Pars fourth pre season friendly brought Derek McInnes` Bristol City to East End Park. It contained four players well known to a Scottish audience: Mark Wilson, Jody Morris, Stephen Pearson and Richard Foster.

Jim Jefferies made a few changes from Saturday with Stephen Husband, Ryan Thomson, Ryan Wallace and Joe Cardle dropping out to be replaced by Chris Kane, Paul Burns, Alex Whittle and Paul Willis. Stephen Jordan was the trialist at left back. The home side kicked off attacking the goal at the Cowdenbeath end and Andy Geggan`s cross won a corner on the right within four minutes but the visitors cleared Alex Whittle`s cross with relative ease.

Bristol began to get their act together and sure enough Jon Stead took the ball to the byeline to the right of Gallacher`s goal to cut back for Brett PITMAN to smash the ball past the Pars keeper. 0-1.

Brett Pitman nets 0-1

Two minutes later a snap shot from Burns 30 yards out on the right almost caught out Dean Gerken but he closed the shot out at his near post. Another Whittle corner failed to find Andy Dowie and the reds took the ball away.

The Championship side began to get chances with regularity. In 16 minutes Stead shot low but narrowly wide from 18 yards, then two minutes later Stead played the ball along the top of the Pars box for Albert Adomah but his lay off was well intercepted by Geggan.  Stead then headed a chance wide and play was pegged back in the Pars half for a period.

Bristol eventually made their possession tell when Pitman took out the Pars defence with a neat backheeler on 18 yards that put ADOMAH in to thrash the ball past the helpless Pars keeper. 29th minutes 0-2.

Bristol City score, 0-2

Dunfermline almost responded immediately but John Potter`s shot was well saved by Gerken. In 38 minutes Dowie`s pass was swept on by McMillan to Whittle and he centred a dangerous ball right in front of goal but Lewin Nyatanga stepped in to clear. Two corners followed for the Fifers but the defence came out on top each time.

Two minutes from half time Wilson conceded a corner under pressure from Whittle and although the setpiece was defended Kane returned a shot that Joe Bryan blocked after it had travelled as far as the six yard box.

Half Time: Dunfermline 0 Bristol City 2

Three subs were thrown on by Jim Jefferies at the start of the second half; Josh Falkingham, Ryan Thomson and trialist, Ian Murray taking the places of Chris Kane, Andy Geggan and Andy Dowie. Jordan McMillan went to right back. Further substitutions in 64 minutes brought in Andy Barrowman for Andy Kirk and Joe Cardle for Paul Willis but up until that point there had been a distinct lack of goalmouth action.

At the midway point of the second half, Cardle hit the crossbar after Whittle got the better of Wilson on the left and sent in a good ball. Bristol too committed subs with James Wilson, Pearson and Anderson introduced and then another three within ten minutes.

Cardle again threatened to breach the Bristol defence speeding into the right side of the box and cutting back for Thomson but he pulled his shot wide of the left post from just eight yards. With quarter of an hour remaining the Pars bench was emptied as Stephen Husband, Ryan Wallace and keeper Michal Hrivnak all graced the park.

Jordan McMillan v Bristol City

Dunfermline began to look more comfortable on the ball especially when they slowed things down looking to send Cardle and Wallace away on the break. In 82 minutes Paul Anderson made a sortie through the centre and luckily the City players appeared a little shot shy as they tried to create the perfect opening.  In the end a good across goal effort was cleared by Murray.

With five minutes left the ever hopeful chant from the `East End Elite` guesting in the Main stand for friendlies began to chant "We`re going to win 3-2".  Unfortunately that was not to be, despite their amusing celebrations for pretend goals. Andy Barrowman had a half chance but was wildy off target so the half time score remained unchanged.

Another 90 minutes under the belt for Dunfermline and a creditable performance against a side that will be playing at a much higher level than the Pars this season.
