Finn is the name

Tuesday, 6th May 2014

"Some of my challenges upset them and they wanted to get back at me. That is part of my game so I just had to get on with it." Finn felt that his yellow card was extremely unlucky, "I thought I skiffed the ball, the decision was soft. I never really touched Steven Smith I got booked and just had to get on with it."

Finn Graham was delighted to make his first team debut against Rangers on Saturday. The 18 year old from Lochore had occupied the subs bench a couple of times recently but he was thrilled to be named in the starting eleven:-

"It was great to make my debut on such an occasion, I really enjoyed it."

The opposition was Rangers and the crowd exceeded 7500, so it was always going to be special for the 18 year old who compared the feeling to that at his usual under 20s matches:-

"There were a lot more than we get in under 20s games. It was an experience that I will cherish forever."

Finn felt that his yellow card was extremely unlucky:-

"I thought I skiffed the ball but the decision was soft I thought. I never really touched Steven Smith but I got booked and just had to get on with it."

The midfielder received a yellow card as he went about his task in his usual enthusiastic way. He found that the Rangers players certainly looked after themselves on the park:-

"They had big presences - Mohsni, McCulloch - it is just part and parcel of the game. I brought some of it on myself, some of my challenges upset them and they wanted to get back at me. That is part of my game so I just had to get on with it."

Jim Jefferies had warned for a long time that he would field a young team in this fixture. That had given Finn hope but he still could not believe it when he was told that he was starting against Rangers:-

"During the week, on Thursday, it was clarified that I was getting my chance and since Thursday it has been great.

"As soon as I saw Hubby getting warmed up, I thought my time was up. I was playing alongside Lewis Spence and Shaun Byrne, they are my midfield partners In the twenties. It was nothing new and with Ryan Williamson playing behind me made it special as well."

Finn was well supported by his family and friends:- "My dad, brothers, cousins, uncles were here and all were very proud of me. If we had beaten them it would have been a great achievement."

It undoubtedly was a great end of league season performance from Dunfermline, "we now need to make sure that the gaffer knows our names" added Finn.
