Game of Four Keepers

Monday, 18th Nov 2013

Ryan Goodfellow makes his debut and has a clean sheet.

Ryan Scully finds that he cannot continue

Ryan Goodfellow was one of two goalkeepers to come off the bench on Saturday to make their debuts. With Ryan Scully getting injured just after half time and Airdrieonians keeper Andrew Duncan being shown a red card on the hour, this was a very unusual game. The Airdrie sub keeper was eighteen year old Jonny Grier and like the 20 year old Pars sub goalie it was his first team debut too.

Ryan Scully is assisted off by physio Kenny Murray

Ryan, who is in his fourth season as a full timer may have waited a long time to get a part but on Saturday it all came upon him very fast and in the circumstances did not have a lot of time to prepare:-

RYAN GOODFELLOW"When Scully needed treatment I thought that it looked a sore one. I stripped ready to go and was nervous to start off with but once I got into the game I enjoyed it."

His first touch was punching away a dangerous ball in from the corner flag on the left;-

"I was glad to get a good touch and I settled into the game after that."

Ryan who is from Earlston in the Borders, played his part in registering what was only the second Dunfermline shut out of their league season.

Given that none of his family were present to see his debut they will be hoping that he retains a starting place.

Would that shut out be enough to hold on to the number one shirt?

RYAN GOODFELLOW

"It is not for me to decide but hopefully? I am just delighted that we got the three points. We have been playing really well creating a lot of chances."

RYAN GOODFELLOW
