Geggan gunning for goals in Greenock

Friday, 23rd Jan 2015

"We have got to win this one, a loss or a draw is no good.

Andy Geggan has felt the last three weeks drag and cannot wait to get back on to the park on competitive action. After being shown red for a moment of madness in the match against Peterhead on 3rd January his two match ban means that he has missed the drawn games against Stirling Albion and Airdrieonians.

Andy told the website that he has had a lot of time to consider his performance and is all the more determined to get back into the team against Morton on Saturday:-

"I want to play for the team and just hope that the gaffer picks me. It is a new year and a new start for me."

Everybody expected Dunfermline and Morton to battle out the automatic promotion spot but things did not turn out that way. Andy reflected:-

"In the first game we went more defensive and worried too much about them. We should have played our usual game but then when we played them at East End we were all over them but just couldn't get the goal.

"We are confident for Saturday with Kyle McAusland and Andy Barrowman coming in. We just need to go for it and get goals. We have got to win this one, a loss or a draw is no good.

"Part time football is a lot different than what it used to be. Part timers are a lot fitter, players seem to look after themselves much more. Stranraer, Forfar, Brechin are still winning games but the season still has a long way to go yet so we just just need to pick it up."

Hitting the net last week against Airdrieonians will hopefully boost Michael Moffat's confidence and Andy says that he deserves more since he shows great commitment in training.

"He trains hard, plays hard and does everything possible to score but it has just not happened for him lately."

The manager has trained his squad through double sessions in the last fortnight and Andy feels that it all has to come together at some point:-

"It is good to see Andy Barrowman return, everybody got a wee lift from it. Those who have come in have been so positive, we just need to do it on Saturday. Once that happens then obviously the fans will believe in us again."
