Dunfermline Athletic

Golden Years DVD

Tuesday, 1st Dec 2015

New edited version has been kindly compiled by ‘Talisman Films Scotland’.

Following on from the successful 'Golden Years' event that took place at the Carnegie Hall in October, a re-edited version of the DVD has been produced that features that great period in the Pars history in the 1960’s. Originally put together by John Hunter and Douglas Scott, this new edited version has been kindly compiled by ‘Talisman Films Scotland’.

Featuring the Scottish Cup wins of 1961 and 1968, as well as excerpts from some of the great European ties against teams like Valencia, Bordeaux and Everton, the DVD is sure to be popular with fans young and old. It also features interviews with some of the great players from that golden period in the Pars history including Charlie Dickson, '61 captain Ron Mailer, Willie Cunningham and Harry Melrose, with great links by the broadcasting legend that was Bob Crampsey.

Donald Adamson of Dunfermline Athletic Heritage Trust is delighted with the new version:

“The film went down extremely well with the audience in the Carnegie Hall last month. We arranged to bring the Scottish Cup from Hampden for the day so that fans had the opportunity to have themselves photographed alongside ’61 captain Roy Barry on stage. That was a highlight for me as I’d always wanted to lift the Cup and bring it back to Dunfermline, though in an ideal world it wouldn’t have been in the boot of my car! It is wonderful that people will be able to relive those glory days by seeing the film clips and interviews of the exploits of the Pars in what is recognised as the best ever period in their history-so far!”

Priced just £10 and lasting for an hour and twenty minutes, the DVD will make a great Christmas present and is on sale throughout December in a stall in the Kingsgate Shopping Centre outside Debenhams, as well as in the DASC shop at East End Park.
